History of
Christian Love Center Church
Christian Love Center Church was founded by Evangelist Willie Mae Clayton
on May 25, 1994 on West Read Street
inNew Haven, Connecticut.
On that joyous occasion we were blessed to have 30 members.
On September 11, 1994 we moved to a bigger location at 570 Whalley Avenue, where the doors of the Church were officially opened. Through God’s grace and mercy, in March 1997,
Christian Love Center Church purchased our
building at 154 Derby Avenue.
Our first Guest Preacher was
Dr. Mattie Darden of Agape Christian Center.

By following Pastor Clayton’s vision as she follows God, C.L.C. has been blessed with an Assistant Pastor; seven Associate Ministers; a Missionary Board, Deacon Board, Deaconess Board,
Mother Board, Trustee Board, Usher Board and Hospitality Committee;
a Mass Choir, Male Chorus, Youth & Young Adult Choirs; Praise Dancers and Teen Workshop.
Our services and programs include
Youth Evangelism, Recovering Your Life with Christ, Single Women’s, Married Couples and Men’s Ministries; a Children’s Church; Adult and Youth Sunday School, Beginners’ Bible Study,
Intermediate Bible Study, Advanced Bible Study, Men’s Bible Study,
Minister’s Training Classes; Monday Intercessory Prayer and
Wednesday night Prayer Service.
C.L.C. has also been blessed with faithful, talented musicians including
drummers, guitarists and organists and our Male Chorus
is a member of the Connecticut “Big Six.”
We currently have close to 400 members and we are constantly growing,
as the Lord adds to the church daily, such as should be saved.
God placed it upon Dr. Clayton’s heart in November 2001, to address the needs of the community
through a Food and Clothing Pantry here at C.L.C. and to assist the disabled and elderly at the
Burgess Building for Senior Citizens by setting up a food pantry there as well.
In addition, C.L.C. has an outreach ministry which visits the Sister Anne Virginie Grimes
Health Center monthly and ministers to the residents in song and prayer.
God blessed us to renovate our sanctuary, purchase new chairs and dedicate our
Dr. Willie Mae Clayton Fellowship Hall in 2007.
We look forward to further expansion in the near future and
our kitchen has already been totally renovated with all new appliances;
new round tables and chairs accommodate our dining hall,
and an additional van has been added to our transportation capabilities.
God has also blessed us with a new sound system, through which we have a CD, DVD and Tape Ministry.
We anticipate being able to offer studio services to local churches
and up-and-coming artists in the near future.
In July 2007 we held our first annual 4th of July Church Picnic, and we have enjoyed 12 years of
fellowship through a wonderful and successful annual Food Fest. In 2010, under the sponsorship of
Deacon Jay Johnson, we acknowledged the 12 Tribes of Israel in a program which raised
over nine thousand dollars for our building fund.
Christian Love Center Church, Inc. has expanded to include Christian Love Center Church, Atlanta
under the leadership of Pastor, Elder Michael Spann and C.L.C. has annual fellowship
with not only other Connecticut churches but congregations in New York and Georgia.
We desire your prayers as we continue to fulfill The Vision God has given us.
